MyBuilder.com is an innovative start-up based in East London, enabling homeowners to find reliable tradesmen through the power of online reviews. We are a hard working, close-knit team dedicated to creating an incredible product. Our headquarters reflect our unique culture; we have an office bar, guitars, drawing club and a volunteer food team who make lunches for their colleagues.
The last 18 months have seen phenomenal growth, but that’s mainly down to an excellent product. Our marketing team wants in on the action, so we’re looking for a content writer to write compelling copy for our audience.
What you’ll be doing
The content marketing role will have a broad scope, pitching in wherever copy assistance is needed. You’ll be writing newsletters, transactional emails, blog opinion pieces, job adverts, ad copy, site copy and anything in between. The right person will be relish turning their hand to any of these.
The homeowner newsletters and blog will be your domain, where you’ll be responsible for planning and execution. We’ve not been great at maintaining our blog, but we dream of a day where it is updated with seasonal advice, reaction pieces and insight into life at MyBuilder.
Our vision is to grow our content to empower homeowners to make informed decisions when hiring tradespeople. You will be instrumental in spearheading this project. Your content will help to reinforce MyBuilder as the champion of quality tradespeople, using trade advice to help homeowners make the best decisions when improving their home.
Who are we looking for?
To begin, you’ll be a great writer - eloquent, succinct and savvy with what works well on the web. You’ll have a genuine passion for home improvement and a desire to learn more about the building industry. From buying a house to a small plumbing issue - you’ll be enthusiastic about writing whatever subject is thrown your way.
We’re a tech company, so a good understanding of how the internet compliments your writing is essential. SEO optimisation, promotion and adjusting copy depending on the medium. You’ll have great research skills, whether it’s interviewing a plumber, ‘Googling’ or just sticking your head in a good old fashioned book!
You’ll be highly motivated; we have big aims for the next year and you will need to craft well written copy in decent time. It’s a fast-paced, agile environment, so new topics might come up quickly and need immediate attention. Most of all, you’ll need to be excited about our service, wanting to achieve great things with your teammates.
