MyBuilder is a marketplace dedicated to helping homeowners find quality tradespeople through the power of online reviews. We are a hard working, close-knit team dedicated to creating an incredible product. Our headquarters reflect our unique culture; we have an office bar, a staff band, darts and table football, and a volunteer lunch team.

Every day, MyBuilder facilitates meetings between hundreds of homeowners and tradesmen across the UK. We are looking for someone to document the story of our customers in photo and video. The right person will be extremely talented at their craft, and In return we will give you the time and tools to create truly excellent work.

The full picture

As our in-house creative, you’ll use your photographic skills for various marketing activities; tradesmen portraits, home improvements, events and competition winners’ stories are just a few. It’s a varied role, so here’s what an upcoming schedule might look like:

  • Meeting a carpenter at his workshop to take some portrait photos, briefed to capture the pride he takes in his work, then editing the images to be used on a new landing page on the site
  • Travelling around building sites to capture ‘on the job’ photos to illustrate a number of home improvement advice articles
  • Filming a homeowner who has won a kitchen refurbishment from MyBuilder, telling their life story and the story of the makeover. Editing and polishing it to be distributed to press and on YouTube
  • Using your photography and brand assets to create a range of new banner adverts for display advertising

In the frame

We’re looking for a skilled photographer and videographer who has produced outstanding work primarily for the web. You will know how tell a story visually and how photography interacts with and complements content. Your versatile skills set will mean you can turn your hand to a variety of tasks, understanding the needs of the project and consistently delivering high quality work.

Our team culture revolves around quality and continuous improvement, so you will consider your job a craft, always looking for new ways to make your work stand out. You will be meeting members of our community, so need to be approachable and warm to get the most out of your subjects. We work with macs and will provide you with the tools you need, so you should have a good knowledge of photography and video editing packages.

Finally, some experience in graphic design would be a big bonus.
